Washed By the Water

Yesterday, my dear friend Sarah got baptized.  Watching her enter into the Kingdom of God was so special.  I really enjoyed this baptism because it was very different than the baptismal services that I grew up with.  It is so powerful watching the representation of being covered by sin and letting go and letting God take over your life.  We as sinners, are involved in the worlds greatest paradox.  We judged the One true judge.  The grace of God overcomes us once we realize that we do not deserve this love but are blessed through his Son with this amazing promise.
Watching Sarah be baptized reminded my of the call that we have as children of God.  We are washed clean, and that doesn't mean that we won't mess up, but it means that we know who to run to when we do.
The perfect love of Jesus never ceases to amaze me.

Amado

Why amado?
This coming May I will be taking my first trip with my church college group to Honduras.  I have been waiting to go on this trip since I was in the 7th grade.  My mom told me that she payed my deposit so it is finally official that I am going.  After my mom told me that, I have been in constant pray about the people I will encounter, my surroundings and just asking God to prepare my heart for this trip.  One afternoon I decide that I should probably brush up on my spanish so that I can be prepared for when we arrive.  I open up an old book that I had from spanish and the first word that I noticed was amado.  The definition for amado is beloved dear one.
Beloved children of God are the people that I will be serving in Honduras.  The language barrier was broken the second I saw just that one word.  Challenges may arise with communication in Honduras but God spoke to me through this one word, reminding me that we are serving his beloved children as beloved disciples.
We are the dear children of Jesus.
Just by seeing this one word in a language that I am not familiar with, I was reminded that I am a beloved daughter of the King. What better blessing could one ask for.
So as I start my journey through college my prayer is to remember in every situation that I may face, that I am cherished by the beloved Son of God.

I hope that I can be a light to others and show them that they too are children of the One.

1 John 3:1
"See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called beloved Children of God, and so we are".

getting started

An assignment given out this past week in psychology was to create something of your own that you could express yourself through.  What better way to do that than through a blog.  I have been thinking about starting a blog for a while now as a way to talk about my walk with Jesus, my friends and family, Younglife, and of course NC STATE.  As a college student now I find myself encountering Jesus in so many new ways and I am so excited to share those moments.

Mark 16:15
He said to them, "Go into the world and preach the gospel to all creation".
